Acupuncture For A healthy pregnancy

Labor Preparation Treatments

Recent studies have shown that regular acupuncture treatments reduce the duration of labor as well as the actual "hard" labor times. It is ideal to begin your labor preparation sessions around weeks 35 - 37, at least once per week.

Breech Presentation

Moxibustion is the act of burning the dried herb mugwort over specific points. This treatment has been shown to effectively and safely turn non-vertex breech presentations of baby. It is best to begin treatments between 33 -35 weeks at least once per week.

First Trimester Treatments

We treat our patients throughout their first trimester to support a healthy pregnancy. This means helping to reduce the incidence of miscarriage and to help prevent morning sickness and nausea.  Additionally, we have several patients that will continue treatment as they get even further along, coming in for “tune ups” if they start to experience back pain, swelling, heartburn, hypertension, or other common ailments that can occur with a pregnancy.  Acupuncture is an excellent option for women wanting a natural alternative to medications.

Once our patients have graduated from their first trimesters, we encourage them to continue at once per month to care for their needs throughout their pregnancy. During this time we see patients that may develop sleeping issues, digestive complains, and physical discomforts. Acupuncture shines when treating such issues and in addition it is a quiet time for mommy-to-be to relax.
